Algonquin Park

Park Overview

"Algonquin Park is the Gem of the Ontario Parks System"

Enjoy a leisurely 5 mile drive from Blue Spruce along Highway 60 and you will enter one of the most prized destinations in the province of Ontario.

Algonquin Park comprises 7653 square kilometers of wilderness in the heart of Ontario, with 2500 lakes and many miles of hiking trails. The lakes are ideal for a quiet day of fishing for trout, and the trails will take you through a wonderful wilderness of spectacular lookouts, lakes and forests.

Moose viewing is a favourite activity, especially in the spring, when the salt used in winter sanding is a favourite snack. In the spring, groups of bird-watchers stay nearby, and vie to be the winners of the bird count.

For those who prefer a more structured experience, The Park boasts a Visitor's Centre, a Logging Museum and an Art Centre. Guided walks and evening programs add interest and are available all season long. If wolves have been heard nearby, a "wolf howl" fills the evening with wolf calls that need to b experienced to be believed.

Algonquin Park has always been an ideal escape from the pressures of the busy lives we experience today. We at Blue Spruce are extremely appreciative of our proximity to The Park. As a gesture of this appreciation we have teamed with the "Friends of Algonquin" to initiate the construction of a new trail that will be wheelchair friendly. We expect it to be open this season.

Algonquin Park is a quintessential Canadian experience - a vacation in the woods.
